The Story of how my sister’s Christmas tree became
Several years back my sister and I decided instead of getting each other gifts for Christmas….that we’d just start giving each other Christmas Ornaments. She was coming to visit just a few short days after we decided this….and I was feeling really pressured to make the first of the ornament giving special….as we were going to exchange them during the visit. I racked my brain….but just couldn’t think of anything to start the tradition off. Then it came! She had a cat at the time…and she’s NEVER been a traditionalist. So…what better to get her than a unique way to show off the future ornaments…and keep them safe from snoopy critters. Which, by the way, comes in handy now…because three years ago she adopted a baby. The now three year old is somewhat curious, and this serves him well too. She already had a tree…and that seemed a bit MUCH for a first gift, so I decided to give her a way to get her tree off the floor. So with a bike wheel, lights and chain…I made her an upside down Christmas tree holder. It’s been her go to ever since! She LOVED it! And now it proudly hangs every Christmas. I wonder if my Solo cup ornaments would look good on her tree? They’re kinda non-traditional too! 🙂
Sometimes the best gifts are born out of necessity.
