Living in West Texas….it’s really a wonder all of us don’t turn into rocks. Between the wind….drought and sand, it feels like we live in a blow dryer! That added to my age….my poor skin doesn’t have a chance! Lately my face and hands have been more than their usual dried sandpaper, even with the best face wash they feel dirty and it’s like I can’t get them to feel moist even after I put lotion on. It just soaks in like water through a sieve.
Twice this week I’ve read clips about washing your face with oil and dirt with oil. :\ I really didn’t know what to think of that statement….but given some thought….it kinda makes sense. Almost all oils are cleaned better with something else oily. I found a face wash recipe….but I thought it could be improved just a bit, and it was certainly not going to HURT my skin! I mixed this concoction up….and washed with my new face wash. One was with this made such a huge difference in the brightness and moisture of my skin….I mixed a huge batch, and washed my face three times! lol I’m so impressed that I have to share this with Y’all! Let me explain part of the argument before I give you this recipe. It’s been known for a long time now that Extra Virgin Olive Oil has qualities that fight cholesterol. The reason why is because it dissolves other oils….essentially breaking them down. It’s packed full of all kinds of vitamins and minerals. (the cold pressed) Castor oil is very much the same. Almond oil is known as a moisturizer. This is the recipe I made…and how I used it. Try it once….I promise….if you have dry skin, your skin will DRAMATICALLY feel different the first time! No…it won’t feel oily. moisturized yes….not oily.
1/3 parts Castor Oil
2/3 parts EVOO (cold pressed for best minerals)
1TBS Almond Oil
Place mixture in you hands and message like you’re putting lotion on. Massage into your face….don’t add water….just massage into the skin for a minute. Get a wash rag wet…but not dripping with hot but not scolding water. Place the hot rag over your face and just let it lay there until it cools down to room temperature…rinse the rag and gently wipe your face. NO SOAP….and don’t scrub. If you need an exfoliant here’s a recipe. You can moisturize afterwards….but even if you don’t….your face is gonna feel like heaven!!! I can’t even believe how good this face wash makes it feel! ENJOY!!!
Do you have a trick that seems like it shouldn’t work….but does? What other oils would you suggest to add to this?
Love Y’all
