Spring is my favorite season. Life just burst from every corner of the earth. Watching the baby critters around the yard is so much fun. One of the big drawing cards in spring for me, is the return of my wildlife, my birds in particular. They wake up every morning, with something to sing about….ALWAYS! I love birds nests. I love them year round, but they speak spring! I’m gonna show you how to make a moss bird’s nest. They’re really simple and take very few supplies.
I think I’ve used sphagnum moss for just about everything I can think of. I love this stuff!
Here’s what I used…but really other than the sphagnum moss…the other embellishments are up to you. Get as creative as you like.
- Sphagnum Moss
- Spray Adhesive
- Spray Sealer
- Various other types of moss, leaves, small twigs and decorative eggs (optional)
Begin by taking some moss in your hands and forming a nest shape.
Begin spraying your moss with spray adhesive, and adding more moss. Continue to work it, shaping and squishing it together with the spray adhesive, until you get a nest the size and generally the shape you like. Then in the same way add your extras: other types of moss, twigs, leaves etc. until you’re happy with the look of it.
Let your glue dry good..and seal it with spray sealer.
You can add some decorative eggs, and attach it to some branches, to set on a shelf. I used mine on my red twig wreath from last week on Live Creatively Inspired. How precious is that?
What’s your favorite season?
