Burlap and Cotton Wreath
Many of you have been with me long enough to remember my cotton wreath…but for those who do not….I’m bringing her out of the shadows.
Last year near cotton stripping time, I went and stole borrowed some cotton from my neighbors’ field. Somehow I keep finding myself in that situation. :\ I guess I’m just a crop thief borrower. I really don’t mean to be a bad girl…I just see the beautiful fruits of their labor…and I can’t help it. I love farm crops…I guess it’s just my background. It actually brings me to tears to think about how these men pour themselves into their work. If not for them….we wouldn’t have many of the foods and textiles that we have today. Farming gets in your blood…and it becomes very personal.
This wreath couldn’t have been easier to make. I wanted it to be completely FREE. With this in mind, I didn’t have a wreath…so I grabbed some bailing wire and wrapped it in a circle the size I liked. I kinda think it added to the wreath anyway…just Junk from the farm. When I got the cotton arranged to please me…I just attached it with a little jute. I grabbed some scraps of burlap and netting or toole…and made a bow. this also covered where I tied the cotton on.
In these photos I placed a K in the center…but I like it without in the photo above too.
Do you have crops near you that you could steal borrow from? I think this will always be one of my favorites.
Stay tuned….one more tomorrow.

I’ve never seen cotton on a wreath before. It’s very cute! It looks so fresh against the burlap. 🙂
