Today I want to show you how easy it is to create Painted Glitter Boxes to use in your decor or to give as gifts. You can either coordinate the colors to match your decor or you could make these for gift giving using the recipient’s favorite colors. Either way, these are really fun to make!
It all starts with basic, small, unfinished wood boxes from the craft store. I purchased mine on clearance!
Supplies:
DecoArt Multi-Surface Acrylic Paints: Pink Cadillac and Apple Green
DecoArt Craft Twinkles Glitter Paint: Sparkling Pink and Lime Green
Small paint brushes
Vintage lace seam binding
Decorative buttons
Glue dots
Tutorial:
The hardest part of this project is deciding which colors you want to use, and where you want to paint those colors!
Step 1. Paint two coats of your chosen paint colors onto the boxes. Let dry.
Step 2. Paint two coats of the Craft Twinkles onto the boxes over their matching paint colors. Let dry in between coats.
Step 3. Attach vintage lace seam binding to box lid: pull seam binding taut, wrap around lid (as shown below), and then secure overlapping edges with a small glue dot on the inside of the box lid.
Step 4. Adhere a decorative button to the top of each box with a small glue dot, in the center of the vintage lace seam binding.
Let the painted glitter boxes cure for a full 24 hours before handling.
And that’s it! See how easy?
What colors would you choose for these boxes?
