As a part of Folk Lifestyle’s weekly blogging challenge I’m linking up with them. This week our challenge is to tell what our long and short term goals are…and how they are going.
How to Set and Achieve Goals
Setting My Goals
When “claiming” a New Year’s Resolution….I am setting goals for myself. Every one wants to know how to set and achieve goals….but do they actually do that? I do have goals…and I do try to accomplish them. Resolutions, on the other hand, I try not to do. I feel like when you feel the pressure of MAKING yourself set a goal…you set yourself up for failure. I have always felt like my goals should be set organically, naturally and by a need I have within myself. What I have done this year….is Resolute to just being a better human, or have BETTER “humanity”.
My New Oxford Dictionary says that the definition of humanity is: The fact or condition of being human; human nature.
I’m not trying to wiggle out of this…I’m trying to say: I want to become a better WIFE, FRIEND, MOTHER, GRAMMY, DAUGHTER and/or SISTER. In other words…and BETTER HUMAN.
But, that being said, I DO have goals for my self….long and short term. So, here’s the breakdown:
As many of you, my readers, know, I have several physical challenges that I deal with. They are not challenges that are going away easily….or quietly for that matter. Lately part of them have escalated to the point that they are stealing my joy. I don’t want ANYTHING to have that much power over me, so I’ve set this goal for myself: To DO something to feel as much better as possible within the month of January. How’s that going? Well….I saw a doctor who thinks he can help with one of those problems….so I’ve made progress. There was a slight snag, that I had no control over. However, I did take steps to resolve that…and did. So, I’m back on path.
I want to get back to controlling where and what I do with my projects. This isn’t going to be easy. It’s going to take time, a lot of legwork and a LOT of knocking on doors. I have started this process, but time will tell how quickly this will happen. I want to take the OTHER things back that were stealing my joy. Like I said before, I don’t want ANYTHING, and that includes ANYONE, to have the power over me, to steal my joy. I found that being a “booth renter” was doing just that! I found that too many times, when you let someone be in a position where they decide when and where you can or can’t do something, the try to control you. As my readers, family and friends can attest, I don’t control easily. So, the booths had to go….and now I need to make a better decision about this area in my life. I have decided to let God decided the timing on this, Which means HIS time, not mine! All I can do is go forth with the physical part of this goal….and let him take control behind the scenes…so this goal includes giving control where I DO have joy…..God!
What are your long and short term goals? Are you progressing with them? Do you make New Year’s Resolutions…or do you let your goals come naturally? Have you figured out how to set and achieve your goals?
