The Best Valentines Day Gift
Not just heart warming….but hand warming too!!!
If you are struggling for the best Valentines Day gift…I might just have the ticket!
These DARLING little hand warmers are perfect for anyone. You can make them custom for man, woman, or child. They are just personal enough to give for a small heart FELT gift.
All you need is:
- a scrap of fabric…in the style and design of your recipient. This is a regular size sheet of paper for printers…so 1/3 of a yard or less.
- 1 1/4 cup of white long grain rice
- essential oil in the scent to match your mate!!
Tools:
- scissors
- sewing machine
- possibly a funnel
I have provided a pattern for your heart here. If you want it smaller…you could trim an equal amount off all the way around. I made these to go in a coat or hoodie pocket, so they are larger.
Start by cutting your two hearts. Don’t forget to make them opposites. This wouldn’t matter, but I left a tab to turn in and sew it shut so that the “stuffing” side is the same as the sewn size.
Turn them right sides together and sew them up….all except the tabs, of course.
Before turning them out…snip little slits all along the curved edges about a 1/4″ apart, going almost to the seam…being careful not to cut through it. Take care to cut one at the center top or V so that your fabric will lay nicely when turned right side out.
Snip the point of the tail off again, taking care not to cut your seam.
Turn right side out, and use a pointed…but not too sharp object to assure all of it is turned well. I used my fingers….the hole is big for this reason. Another reason I left the opening so big…is so that I didn’t have to use a funnel. This is really up to you. I sew my seams shut on my “perfect Valentines Day gift” with my machine….you can do it with a thread and needle…I just prefer not to.
Take your rice and put it in a zip baggy and put about 10-20 drops of the essential oil of your choice in it. The amount you use is strictly personal preference.
Seal the bag and knead around with your hands to mix the oil around in the rice.
Now you can place your rice in your heart and sew it shut. On my second one….I did a decorative stitch all the way around….and I really like it.
These are the Best Valentines Day Gift …they can be heated in the microwave for 2 minutes and they’ll warm the hands…and heart of that special Valentine in your life….or yours! 😀 Oh…and wouldn’t they go PERFECT with a gift made from my Love Typography?
You can keep these in a drawer when you’re not using them…and they’ll keep your “assets” smelling heavenly too!!! 🙂
You can always just cut out a square shape if you feel these aren’t really “GUY” shapes! lol
Tell me what fabric you would like? What scent would like? Would you use one of these?
Love Y’all!!!

One year our Youth Group handled all the details at church for all the services. Their theme was Hearts on Fire and they passed these out to the congregation. They were very popular. Mine is still in service!
